Go to Church for Halloweeen

Don't forget once the children have come and gone head to Church Street as it becomes pedestrian-only for the annual Halloween walkabout tonight where some of the finest costumes in the city can be observed. Sometimes people even dress up like the mayor. Increasingly, Church Street is becoming one of the most frequent temporary pedestrian zones in the city, for all sorts of events.

I happen to be in Baltimore and went to the Westminster Hall and Burying Ground, known for the grave of Edgar Allen Poe. Not the same as Church Street, but it was the place to be with candies, cider, tours of catacombs and poetry readings. But Church Street is fun. Incidentally, the NYT is reporting the tradition is dead on Castro Street in San Fran.
