Mayor David Miller, meanwhile, encouraged Torontonians to embrace the weather. “It’s Toronto. We have winter. I’m going to go tobogganing.”

4 million for a park!Mayor David Miller, who praised the plan as a “terrific” new addition to the water’s edge, said he hopes the umbrellas stay.
“It’s not my decision, but I think they’re great,” he said. “It’s nice to have a great public park that’s fun and a little bit whimsical.”
Just up the street there are homeless who live under the gardiner, could a buddy spare a loonie???

Concerning the new Jarvis urban beach, I am very disappointed with this choice since it seems a direct copy of the HTO urban beach (co-designed by the same firm). I love the HTO urban beach since it is so unique; but do we really need two of them so close together on the waterfront??? This is particularly disappointing since the other two concepts for the area were both exciting and creative. Harbourfront's success will be created through the variety of its spaces, not just recreating successful elements in multiple locations.
