Montreal Monday: Griffintown phase two, transit use up, snow battle royale on Mount Royal

Each Monday, we bring you some of the popular posts from our sister blog, Spacing Montréal. We'll keep an eye open for topics and discussions that are pertinent to current public space issues in Toronto.

• Montrealers turned a brutal cold weekend into some winter fun.   Olivier Plessis reports on the massive snowball battle that took place on Mount Royal.

• Will Devimco and the city have to go through another round of public meetings concerning the Griffintown development plan?  Chris Erb takes a look at reports about Devimco re-addressing their initial plan which would cut the cost of phase one in half.

• A recent report released by the STM (Montreal's transit authority) shows transit ridership was significantly higher in 2008.  For full details of the report, take a look at Jacob Larsen's post.

Meanwhile, kids in the TDSB get suspended if they are caught throwing a snowball. *sigh*
