Event Guide: Trivia Night in support of Wychwood Open Door

Think you know the TTC, Grade 10 science and Toronto's libraries and literature? Prove it this Saturday at the Wychwood Barns when Councillor Joe Mihevc hosts a Trivial Pursuit-style fundraiser on behalf of Wychwood Open Door drop-in centre.

As Spacing's Adam Chaleff-Freudenthaler, who also chair's the board of Wychwood Open Door, wrote recently, his organization is seeing a major increase in demand for its services as the economy continues to slide.  Last year the Open Door served more than 13,000 meals and this year it expects that number could jump to 15,000, more than double the amount served since 2001. This is an organization that needs your help.

Who:Councillor Joe Mihevc hosts a Community Trivia Night fundraiser with emcee Kevin Sylvester of CBC. Mihevc and Sylvester will be joined by several prominent community people who will be guest quiz masters.

What: You'll play 10 rounds of a Trivial Pursuit-style trivia game on a team of 6-10 people (you can bring your own team if you want a table for your friends/family) in support of Wychwood Open Door. The top three teams will take home prizes, with door prizes to be won throughout the evening.

Where: The Artscape Wychwood Barns, located at 601 Christie St. By TTC you can take the 126 Christie bus north to Benson Ave. (one stop south of St. Clair) or the 512 St. Clair bus to Wychwood Ave. and walk south to Benson.

When: Saturday, March 7, 2009. Doors at 6:30, game at 7. The evening will wrap up by 10.

How much: $20, with a $15 tax receipt. Tickets at the door or by phoning Councillor Joe Mihevc's office at (416) 392-0208.

Drinks: Cash bar provided by Mill Street Brewery, $4/beer.

If you can't make it out for Trivia Night but want to contribute to Wychwood Open Door, visit their page at CanadaHelps.org
