Celebrate Scarborough....in East York! The irony is delicious.

Organizers can comment if they want -- but I suspect since it's a fundraiser, they want to make it as accessible as possible, and being somewhat closer to the core = closer to donors and attendees. Perhaps also a question of appropriate space.

We're having this discussion with Spacing right now. The issue in the works is our Suburbs issue -- so we want to have our launch in the suburbs, somewhere. But well-attended launch parties is a critical part of our financial stability -- so it's risky to go to far out.

So money trumps irony. Likely.

Hi Shawn,

Yeah that is part of the reason. The vast majority of our programs and events take place east of Victoria Park, but for this one 1. We are working with a strong supporter - The Centre for Creative Communications - who has kindly provided the space 2. We did want to maximize accessibility to rest of the city, and be close to TTC 3. Our mandate is also to work in the east end of Toronto, so this falls within that.

So there you go!

Tim
