Storm City
By Matthew Blackett // 1 Comment
The storms that rocked Toronto yesterday were wild. I rushed home from the Spacing office to avoid getting drenched and arrived just in time to take a series of photos of the approahcing menace. The following images were taken on my balcony looking west from Jameson and Lake Shore. Click on the photos to see a larger version on Flickr.
Storm approaching from the west.
About 5 minutes after storm ended.
Sunset, about one hour after storm.
BlogTO has a great post with videos of a tornado in Vaughan (and a follow-up post of aerial photos), while Torontoist has a post showing off some excellent local photography of the storm.

I was one of the 25,000 Torontonians without power the morning after the storm. That's less than 0.1% of the city's population. It took Toronto Hydro more than 24 hours to restore power, something which I found quite discouraging.
