Opportunities at Spacing

Here at Spacing we have a variety of opportunities for those who wish to get involved.

Write for the magazine:
Spacing is always looking for new writers. Sign-up for our call for submissions or email your pitch to Spacing's managing editor Todd Harrison.

Photograph or illustrate for the magazine:
Spacing is always looking for new photographers and illustrators. Sign-up for our newsletter to art contributors or email links to your portfolio to Spacing's art director Matthew Blackett.

Bloggers from across the GTA and Canada:
We're expanding our blog network in 2009. Help us go cross-country by writing for us or working to set up a Spacing blog in your city (Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnpeg, Ottawa, Windsor, Halifax, St. John's). If you live in the GTA, we're seeking correspondents to write about Toronto's satellite suburbs. Email us.

Editorial interns:
Applications are now being accepted for editorial internship positions in 2009. Priority is usually given to applicants seeking to fulfill requirements for a post-secondary school journalism or related program. Most internships last 16 weeks, or one full publication cycle of the magazine. To apply, send your resumé and a letter of interest by email to us.

Photo interns:
Spacing's photo intern team contribute images to our magazine, blogs, Flickr pool, and research photo projects. Email us if you want to contribute.

Ad sales representative:
We're looking for an individual to work with our current advertisers and help us expand both our print and online advertising partners. This part-time position is ideal for a sales rep with existing clients or for someone looking to break into the ad sales world.  Salary by commission. For more info or to declare your interest, email us.

Multimedia whiz:
Help Spacing expand and enrich our web sites and blog network by producing bold visuals and media-rich interactive online applications. This position is good for students looking for a long-term internship or those hoping to expand their portfolio. Email Matthew Blackett.

Merchandise rep:
We need a dedicated, enthusiastic person to co-ordinate sales of our popular subway button series, as well as help us develop new products (we have an abundance of ideas). The more stuff we get into stores, the more money you'll make. Email us.
Volunteers:
We're always looking for volunteers to give us a hand at Spacing events, help package and mail copies of the magazine to subscribers, and assist us with some of our day-to-day operations. It's a fun and (relatively) easy way to get to know new people, and it looks great on a resume or school application. Email us if you're interested in helping out.
